Ellen Barkin Söderholm

     Ellen Barkin Söderholm is a Swedish artist and illustrator, working in the traditional 
mediums of oil paints, charcoal and etching, as well as in digital medias.
Born in 1983 in Gothenburg, Sweden, she attended the preparatory art schools of 
KV and Göteborgs Konstskola before entering the academic drawing and painting 
program of the Florence Academy of art in 2007, graduating the three year program 
in 2010. In addition to studying, Ellen worked as an assistant teacher in the drawing program 
during her third year at the academy. 

She is currently working out of her own studio, doing shows as well as 
comission work and illustration.

for storytelling to create scenes of beauty and interest. I draw inspiration from 
literature and nature as well as the rich narrative traditions and history of my 
home area of the Swedish west coast”.
